Bossen clean up dayNew ItemTown Hall Lanes Liquor License Public Hearing, Tuesday May 28, 6:30 pm, to present information and solicit comments for the application from Town Hall Lanes for an On-Sale Liquor, Class C-2 with Sunday Sales license. If approved, the license would permit them to serve beer, wine, and liquor in their restaurant. 6:30-7:30pm at Faith Evangelical Church (3430 E 51st St)  Download the official notice/comment form. If you can't attend, please add comments to the form and return to the city. (Updated 5/20)

Bossen clean up dayNew ItemSandcastle Liquor License Public Hearing, Monday, June 3, to present information and solicit comments for the application from Sandcastle for a Charter On-Sale Wine with Strong Beer, Class D license. The Sandcastle restaurant will be located at Lake Nokomis on Minneapolis Park Board Property. There will be 80 outside seats and 25 enclosed. 1:30 pm (or shortly thereafter), at City Hall, Room 317 (350 South 5th Street,  Download the official notice/comment form. New ItemBossen Area Litter Clean Up was washed out!  A hearty thank you to the few volunteers that bravely showed up.  2" of rain and frequent lightning strikes forced us to cancel the event for the safety of all. We will try again at some point. (Updated 5/20)

click for more on the Garage SaleNew ItemThe Great Nokomis East Neighborhood-Wide Yard & Garage Sale, on Saturday, June 22: Make it a Super Saturday for your garage sale by joining this neighborhood-wide garage & yard sale event.  Last year, nearly 100 households held sales. NENA handles the details and you run your own sale at no cost to you. An area map showing locations will be available online and from selected businesses. Registration deadline is Monday, June 10. New item Thank you to everyone who attended NENA's 2013 Annual Neighborhood Meeting and Dinner on April 30. The amazing KetzalCoatlicue Aztec Dance Group put on a great show! Special thanks go out to Fat Lorenzo's for catering the great dinner and to Crosstown Covenant Church for the gracious use of their nice facilities. The 2013 Noki Award was presented to MaryLynn Pulscher of the MPRB for her tireless collaboration with NENA on producing the Monarch Festival. (5/01)

Home improvement loansHome Improvement loans are back!: NENA has funding available for Home Improvement Loans through our administrator, the Center for Energy and Environment. The program offers low interest loans for eligible home improvements and City code violations. For more information on the Improvement loans, please visit the Center for Energy and Environment (mncee.org), call (612) 335-5830, or email loaninfo@mncee.org. You may also pick up an application at the NENA office, 3000 East 50th St. (5/18)

The Night Before New Years Eve Party. Perhaps a thousand guests stopped by the Nokomis Community Center to celebrate the New Year a day early. It was a fantastic evening, and many thanks are due the great volunteers and contributors that helped make December 30th memorable for so many area families. More Information (Updated 1/04/12)

The Emerald City Globe Award.Minneapolis wins 2009 Emerald City Globe Award  Our city was selected from 174 other candidates to receive the coveted 2009 Emerald City Award for its work in green promotion. Read the Press Release in the Lighter Side. (April 1, 2009)  There's more, like the Glowing Walleyes, the Sharks in Minnehaha Creek and the Viking Timbers in Lake Nokomis. They're all in the Lighter Side.
