 On
Aug 20, the City Council
held a "final" public
hearing to take the final feedback on
its proposed Framework for the Future,
capping an extended and contentious, two-year
debate. The Framework proposes to end NRP, replacing
it with a new City Division, among other things.
The following morning, the Committee of the
Whole decided to postpone the decisions until
Sept 11. Please take the time to read the
final draft of the Framework (download
here), and submit comments by e-mail or
by testifying at the hearing. Click
here to read an alternative
proposal (36
KB PDF) created by a citywide-coalition
of Minneapolis residents.
 Please
water your trees in
both the boulevard and your yard, especially
the young ones. In spite of the recent downpours, we
are still behind in rainfall and the
trees are showing signs of stress. Trees
need almost 1" per
week, and it's important that we get
water to them now. What,
why and how Also:
If you live along 50th St, please
water the new sod. (Updated

 Airport
noise mitigation: After
2 years of litigation, MAC and the
cities of Minneapolis, Eagan and
Richfield have reached a settlement
that will give roughly $130 million
worth of noise mitigation to about
7,700 residents. SW
Journal, Star
Tribune, Is
your house in the new contours? >> MAC's
2007 draft contour map. More
information on the settlement: MAC
Noise Website. (10/17)
