Future of NRPAt 12:06 PM, Sept 26, the Mpls City Council passed a resolution ending the 19-year old Neighborhood Revitalization Program. Under the Mayor's guidance, the Council authorized the creation of a new City department that will take over all the functions of NRP, effectively killing the program that supports and funds all 72 of Mpls' Neighborhood Orgs. In a late tactical move, the new department was authorized without any structure, function, staff or cost figures attached (a blank slate). They also passed a resolution to replace NRP's independent "joint-powers" Policy Board with yet another City advisory committee. (Updated 10/03)
