Draft Environmental Impact Statement for Disposition of the former Bureau of Mines Twin Cities Research Center

EIS

The National Park Service (NPS) has released a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the disposition of the former Bureau of Mines Twin Cities Research Center and is asking for public comments on the draft EIS. This may be the last chance for public comment on the disposition of this important property.

The purpose of the project is to consider alternatives and potential impacts of alternative future uses of this federal property on the natural, historic and cultural resources. More

Parking & Traffic: Thanks to the 60 residentswho attended the Sept 16 Parking and Traffic Issues meeting at the Nokomis Community Center, we have a good start towards finding solutions for parking and traffic issues around the 50th St. station area and along 39th and 38th Avenues.

This was a difficult subject, and we didn't expect any final closure at the end of the night. However, with so much good input from residents and officials alike, we have made strong progress towards some positive solutions. Find out what's next and more. (9/27/04)

Slow down for Hyw 55A letter to MnDOT back in '02 recommended traffic restrictions along Hiawatha Ave to slow traffic and promote pedestrian safety and new development. The LRT Citizen's Advissory Committee recommended speed bumps, rumble strips, and a narrowing of the road at intersections, among other clever devices.
