I have been doing quite a bit of reading
on the Enhanced Lease Programs being utilized
by the V.A. It continually mentions the
"Secretary" as being the designated
person to notify the community and hold
a hearing for input on such a program. Tell
me, who is the "Secretary" for
this V.A. Low-Income Housing proposal? Was
this individual present at the October 15th
meeting? Who does this person report to?
(i.e. who would he pass on information obtained
during this hearing to?)
Regarding
the October 15th meeting to get community
input, I would have to say that the input
gathered from my neighborhood was pretty
much all negative. Most people on my block
are opposed to this project. And rightly
so. If this is any indication of how our
Federal, State and City agencies work, I
am not impressed. I feel we were deliberately
ignored during the planning stages of this
project or more of an effort would have
been placed on notifying us of the plans.
I never read the Legal Section of any paper.
Okay, so input was gathered. Where did it
go? Who is actually listening to us and
wanting to make us happy? After all, a good
majority of us have spent years on Hiawatha
Lane. These are our homes - our neighborhood.
We are raising our children here. We pay
taxes. And we have no say so what is being
planned? If this goes through, I will forever
turn my back on the politicians I have voted
for all these years. I will view all involved
with this project as crooked, evil, money
hungry scabs of society.
