Housing & Development Committee

Believes all should be able to enjoy NENA’s neighborhoods with access to housing that is affordable, accessible, and stable, transportation that is safe, reliable, and sustainable, and thriving small businesses.

Encourages advocacy, sharing information, and connecting regarding the community's built environment

Addresses the housing affordability shortage, and the necessary integration of neighborhoods

Supports mixed use walkable, transit connected, and local economic development​​

Your involvement in this committee not only strengthens our community but also helps our NENA Board members and staff understand the neighborhood's needs better.

Dedicated to fostering meaningful connections among residents, city officials, and local resources through various programs, events, and educational forums.

Encourages everyone to participate, engage with one another, and help spread the word about upcoming events.

Environmental Committee

The Environment Committee has been instrumental in bringing initiatives and education to our community in support of the environment.

Works improve awareness around issues that may impact environmental quality of NENA’s neighborhoods

Advocates for programs and partnerships that may improve the environment and climate change

Advises city developers on environmental issues

Host initiatives and events such as Hennepin County’s no-plastics challenge, fall and spring clean-up events, book clubs, movie showings, green webinars and workshops, and seed swaps

Works closely with garden and pollinator support through the Nokomis East Giving Garden, Nokomis East Gateway Garden, and the Nokomis Naturescape.

When: Every Fourth Wednesday of the Month
Time: 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM

Since April 2020, NENA hosts all Board and committee meetings online via Zoom. A brief video tutorial on how to join a meeting using Zoom is available here.​​

Meetings are open to the public unless otherwise noted on the agenda. Each meeting starts with a 15 minute period for the public to address the Board with your ideas and questions. Come check out the work of your neighborhood association’s Board of Directors. All are welcome!
